The Wedding Dress

Angie is married! It was beautiful...the ceremony...the reception...everything. We stayed the entire weekend in Maggie Valley and it rained just about the entire time --except for the wedding (which was outside) and the reception! Here are more photos:

Cutting the cake. Check out the view behind them - it was a beautiful setting.

And, of course, Pete had to be in on all the attention. This is his wedding outfit. He was also wearing a sign on his back that read "Best Man In Training.

Time for a Wedding

Yesterday, we shopped for (and purchased) a wedding dress for my sister. There are those that take over a year to plan a wedding but as Michael likes to say "If you only have two weeks, it only takes two weeks". I think he allowed me about 5 weeks...maybe it was 6...either way it wasn't much time. But it was more than two. It is a beautiful dress (although I can't show pics of it here until after the wedding). Let's just say that it must have been difficult for Angie to decide on a dress when not all of us that were there "helping" her decide could agree on the "dress for her". In the end, she made an excellent choice and I can't wait to see her strutting down the isle in it (I'll try not to cry...no promises).

Pig Flu

Is it just me or is this whole swine flu thing a little blown out of proportion. At this site: surgical masks, you can get designer surgical masks to protect you against the "outbreak". This site attempts to put the swine flu deaths into perspective by stating the number of "regular" flu deaths annually. Then there is this site that says the annual flu death toll put out by the CDC is grossly overstated. Who's right? Who knows. I do believe that more people die each year from tripping over the crack in the sidewalk than from the swine flu....but that's just my opinion.

Organizing/Spring Cleaning: Day One

It started with the kitchen cabinets. I made and installed a few new shelves and decided to pull everything out of the cabinets and organize the contents. In doing so, I found several items that really belonged in the utility closet rather than the kitchen which is how I ended up here. We had put one of those metal shelving units in this closet temporarily to hold kitchen items while the cabinets were being built. It was too large to fit back against the wall so it just sat in the middle of the closet and items continually fell off the back where you couldn't get to them. Anyway, I decided that organizing the kitchen cabinets needed to start in the utility closet. So, I built a cabinet that fits perfectly between the vertical soffit and the water heater. Now, maybe tomorrow I can get back to the kitchen cabinets.
